The Rev. Steven K. Smith MA, MDiv 705-387-4272
Bio: Hi! I’m Steven Smith, the new Senior Minister at Knox Sundridge, also St. Andrew’s Burk’s Falls and Knox Magnetawan. I was called to the Almaguin Pastoral Charge in September 2018, following a 17-year ministry in Muskoka (Port Carling and Torrance). I grew up in Markham ON when it was a nice little town, studied at the University of Guelph (Philosophy and Fine Art) for six years, then at Knox College Toronto for the Master of Divinity degree. I was ordained at St. Andrew’s Church Guelph (1981) into the Ministry of Word and Sacrament of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. My first Pastoral Charge was Knox Grand Valley ON. After five years I returned to Knox College to pursue advanced degree studies in New Testament where my chief areas of interest were computerized biblical study, rhetorical analysis of New Testament texts, and humour in the Gospels. During that same period, I was also engaged in part-time Interim Ministry in two Toronto congregations of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. In 1990 I began a brief 10-year detour through manufacturing, gaining invaluable experience in the business world and the proliferation of computer applications. In 2001 I happily returned to full-time pastoral ministry when called to the Port Carling Pastoral Charge. Since 2010, when we winterized the family cottage, my wife Tonnie and I have lived in the Magnetawan suburb of Knoefli Falls. Together we have 5 children, 11 grand-children and 1 big fluffy dog. We are deeply and truly excited about working in the Presbyterian churches of the district in which we live, and we aim to have lots of fun in doing so! If I’ve learned anything about ministry thus far, it’s this:

The Rev. Dale Broadworth BA MBA
705-476-3603 Bio: My name is Dale Broadworth and I have been a minister of Word and Sacrament for 44 years. After I retired as District Director for Northern Ontario with the Canadian Bible Society I provided pastoral leadership to a number of churches in Northern Ontario. In 2013 and 2014 I served in Calvin Presbyterian Church in North Bay while they searched for a new minister. In October 2014 I joined Rev Les Drayer as part of the pastoral team to care for the Presbyterian Churches in the Almaguin Highlands. In 2017/18 while the churches searched for a new senior minister I assumed the lead role in pastoral care, serving with others in meeting the needs of these congregations. It is now my privilege to serve alongside Rev. Steven Smith as part of his pastoral team. I have been married to my wife Gayle since 1975 and we have two children Sarah (North Bay) and Daryl (Lesley) of Lindsay. We have one grandson, Connor, whom we love dearly. |
